Kara Murphy joined the Oak Steakhouse Charlotte team as pastry chef in February 2017. As a 10-year culinary veteran, Kara’s love and expertise for pastries continues to evolve as the pastry chef at both Oak Steakhouse and O-Ku Charlotte. Kara’s passion for all things sweet began with her first culinary job at the local bakery her family visited in Delaware. Since then, she has continued to work at various bakeries including Cannon’s Custom Cakes & Bakery, Desserts by Dana, Serpes & Sons Bakery and Buckley’s Tavern. Kara took her passion for baking from the kitchen to the classroom and graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a bachelor’s in business management while earning double associate’s degrees in baking and pastry. Kara was born in California and moved to Delaware at a young age. After falling in love with Charlotte during her time at Johnson & Wales University, Kara is excited to be a full-time resident of the Queen City. When not in the kitchen, Kara spends her time volunteering with animals and trying new pastries.
